Everyone will go thru some hard times at some point. Life isn't easy. Just something to think about...Did you know the people that are the strongest are usually the most sensitive? Did you know the people who exhibit the most kindness are the first to get mistreated? Did you know the ones who take care of others all the time are usually the ones who need it the most? Did you know the 3 hardest things to say are I love you, I'm sorry, and Help me. Sometimes just because a person looks happy, you have to look past their smile and see how much pain they may be in. To all my friends who are going through some issues right now--Let's start an intention avalanche. We all need positive intentions right now. If I don't see your name, I'll understand. May I ask my friends wherever you might be, to kindly copy and paste this status for one hour to give a moment of support to all those who have family problems, health struggles, job issues, worries of any kind and just need to know that someone cares. Do it for all of us, for nobody is immune. I hope to see this on the walls of all my friends just for moral support. I know some will!! I did it for a friend and you can too. You have to COPY & PASTE this one, NO SHARE BUTTON please

Visitor to Hugs Thailand

Posted by andypragnell on November 1, 2013 at 2:25 AM Comments comments (0)

We had an unusual visitor today, a baby frog. He (or she) was only about 1.5 cm long. I let him loose in the garden and he hopped away. Cute! My Grand Mother (God rest her soul) would have been terrified, she had a phobia about frogs...

Mattress Price Comparison

Yesterday I went to a local department store and had a quick look at the mattresses they had on offer. They had a king size ‘posture spring’ mattress with a, single sided, latex pillow top, reduced from 57,000 Baht to 40,000 Baht. A good deal, offering 17,000 Baht discount? Maybe not so good, Hugs Thailand sell a very similar mattress but with a double-sided latex pillow top for 13,900 Baht, a little over ⅓ of the price. Our top of the range ‘pocket spring’ mattress with a, double sided, latex pillow top sells for 23,500 Baht, over 40% less. I have posted about having only a single sided pillow top before. This is part of my post:

The only problem was the pillow top is on just one side.

That means you can either:

1. Alternate between having a pillow top and not.

or

2. Accept that your mattresses life will be half as long as it should be.

(see the full post here)

Have a great day.

Sleep cleans the brain

New research suggests that sleep cleans the brain, sort of like rebooting your computer or doing 'housekeeping' on it:

Happy Grand Parents Day from Hugs Thailand

Posted by andypragnell on October 6, 2013 at 12:50 AM Comments comments (0)

Sunday 6th October is Grand Parents Day in England. I understand that we don't have a 'Grand Parents Day' here in Thailand but there is no harm in using the day to honour our grandparents, maybe by taking them out somewhere or even just a phone call.

If, like me, all your grandparents have passed on; maybe a moment of reflection, or just thinking about some good times you spent with them in the past would be appropriate...

Have a great day!

Issues that can cause sleeping problems Pt 2

Posted by andypragnell on August 24, 2013 at 12:45 AM Comments comments (0)

Having problems sleeping? I'm sure you're not alone many people experience insomnia at some point in their lives.

This is part two of five issues that can cause it.

Alcohol

Alcohol consumption may seem like a strange one as it actually seems to help many people fall asleep and small amounts are indeed good. The problem is with larger amounts which cause people to go straight into deep sleep missing out the important first stages.

In addition we typically need to go through 6 or 7 cycles of REM sleep but if we have drunk a lot this is reduced to only 1 or 2 cycles, making us get out of bed still feeling fatigued.

Alcohol also makes us snore more, not so much of a problem for us, though it does mean breathing is more difficult and hence sleep more restless, it is more of a problem for anyone sleeping with us.

Unless they are drunk too, of course! :P

Mattress & Box Spring delivery to Phuket Airport Hotel

Posted by andypragnell on August 21, 2013 at 3:45 AM Comments comments (0)

We made the final delivery of beds to the Phuket Airport hotel on Saturday, they are upgrading all their rooms.

We supplied mattresses and divan beds (box spring bases) to them. As they say on their website 'make your short stay a great stay'. See their website here: http://phuketairporthotel.com/ I have attached some pictures though unfortunately they aren't that clear as I think I had my camera on the wrong setting.

Both the owner of the hotel (Marcel from Holland) and I helped with the unloading so it got done pretty quickly, all the rooms will be finished by the end of next month and they are looking great. They have new ceilings, new wall decoration, 32 inch LCD TV's and, of course nice new beds. The hotel also offers good Wi-Fi and a swimming pool, yet the prices are very reasonable.

I don't normally take pictures of deliveries but made an exception today, to show you what we are doing. :)
