Dreams in the Ancient Egyptian World

In the era of the Pharaohs dreams were thought to be sent by the gods as a message warning of impending disaster or telling of coming good fortune.

Due to books written at the time we know that the Ancient Egyptians were most likely the first civilization to try and interpret their dreams.

They were pioneers of 'dream incubation' where a person who wanted help from the gods slept at a temple and, the next morning, had their dreams analyzed by a 'master of secret things' who would tell them what they meant, all for a sizable fee or 'contribution', no doubt...
